The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) announced the registration of 845 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, and the recovery of 129 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 1372.
According to the MOPH website, most of the new cases registered are due to expatriate workers in different occupations who have been in contact with previously discovered cases, as well as recording new cases of coronavirus among groups of workers from outside the industrial area who were identified through testing by the Ministry of Public Health. This has contributed to the early detection of new cases. The remainder of new cases infected with the virus have come from citizens and residents who have contracted the virus from members of their families, who in turn had contracted the virus through their workplaces or other places where they had been to exposed to infected people.
All the new infected cases have been quarantined where they are receiving the necessary medical care. MOPH stated that most of the coronavirus cases are experiencing only mild symptoms.
MOPH stated that the noticeable increase in the number of confirmed new cases of coronavirus is due to several reasons, including that the spread of the virus has entered its peak where numbers are expected to continue to increase before they begin to gradually decline.
The Ministry has also intensified its efforts in tracking coronavirus transmission chains and expanded the search for infected people by conducting extensive and proactive tests of contacts of those people who have been confirmed with the disease previously. This early detection of many cases of infection will help helps reduce the spread of the virus.
According to the MOPH, the number of daily tests is in the proportion of those in contact with persons confirmed to be infected with the virus, and also depends on the number of groups that are tested as a proactive measure. The number of tests that are performed is not linked to the number of cases detected in terms of numbers.
MOPH stresses that many cases infected with the Covid-19 do not show symptoms of the disease and the presence of the virus is discovered thanks to the early and proactive tests conducted by specialized ministry teams, especially among individuals who have come into contact with those with confirmed infection.
Also, a large percentage of the recorded cases experience mild symptoms and do not require any medical intervention, but are quarantined and given access to medical care and support.
MOPH calls on all members of society to stay at home and not go out except in cases of necessity and to implement preventive measures and maintain physical distancing, including in the workplace and public places. The Ministry reminds people to use a face mask as recommended and avoid social visits to reduce their risk of contracting the virus.
