In 2014, Doha applied for a chance to bid for the 2019 IAAF World Championships and become the first hosting city in the region. Doha will become the first Middle East city to host this event in the history of Athletics.

Location: Multi-purpose Khalifa International Stadium.
This event will mark the 17th edition of the IAAF World Championships. Doha welcomes 205 nations and over 3,500 athletes with an estimate of 10,000 international guests. Roughly 30,000 spectators from outside Qatar and 2,000 media personnel will be present during this big event.
This is the third biggest sporting event in the world. Also, this will be broadcasted to over 200 countries with an aim to reach out to more than 7 million viewers. In addition, the IAAF Congress Elections will also take place in Doha.
The Eatons are coming to Doha
Just 30 days to go until the IAAF’s World Championship event in Doha kicks off, Ashton Eaton and Brianne Theisen-Eaton were named the Ambassadors for IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019. The Eatons are looking forward to 10 days of mesmerizing athletics actions from 27 September until 6 October.
