Overview
Auto Class Cars, the authorized distributer of MG in Qatar, launched the all-new MG RX8 in Qatar in a special event held at MG showroom at Salwa road in Doha. The MG RX8 is the first-ever seven-seat SUV from the British-born automotive brand not only is it the first ever seven-seater in MG’s 95-year history but it also offers unrivaled levels of space, premium features and in-car technology.
The event was attended by Mr. Ihab El Feky, Chief Operations Officer – Automotive at NBK Group, Mr. Hesham Al Sahn, General Manager of Auto Class Cars, Mr. Karim Monir, Head of Marketing at Auto Class Cars, Tamer Abdallah MG brand Manager in Qatar, executives from MG Motor and representatives of media. HE Sheikh Faleh Bin Nawaf Al Thani, Operations director – Auto, at Nasser Bin Khaled Group said: “Auto Class Cars continues to launch all-new MG vehicles in collaboration with MG Motors. We are proud today to add the first-ever sporty seven-seat SUV to our collection of cars at our showroom, making Qatar one of the first markets in the region to launch this new vehicle. We are confident that the MG RX8 will attract the attention of car enthusiasts, thanks to its spacious cabin, durability and distinctive features which make it the ideal choice for families and adventures at the same time’.
Exterior
While the exterior features include matrix-style LED lights, 20-inch alloys, and six exterior colour options, the cabin gets premium finishes including wood grain, chrome and soft-touch trim in a choice of three colour schemes. Thanks to its relatively substantial exterior dimensions – 4,923mm long, 1,930mm wide and 1,842mm high – the RX8 has a generous wheelbase of 2,850mm, which in turn translates to a spacious interior.
Interior & Technology
Its spacious modular interior features adjustable rear seats and the largest third-row space in its segment. An array of premium materials including wood grain and soft-touch trim gives the RX8 a high-class feel. And, modern features such as a 10-inch touch screen in-car entertainment system, ventilated seats and wireless mobile device charging capabilities make the RX8 the perfect partner for an active family.
Performance
MG also claims the RX8 is a truly capable 4×4, offering a real-time 4×4 Torque on Demand system with six different driving modes: Auto, 4L, Off-road, Snow, Sport and 2H. The entry level (STD) trim comes with a 4×2 rear wheel drive transmission system. The RX8 is powered by a 220-horsepower 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that develops maximum torque of 360Nm. It is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox with a paddle shifter.
