According to The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), the ‘Qatar Farms Programme’ and ‘Premium Qatar Farms Programme’ marketed over 3,752 tonnes of local vegetables in January.
Under the Qatar Farms Programme, more than 3265 tonnes of vegetables were sold out, although the Premium Qatar Farms Programme sold 487 tonnes of which; a 61% increase compared to their sales in January of 2020.
The vegetables sold through Qatar Farms Programme have an increase of 52% compared to the January 2020 sales.
These programmes are operated by MME along with the inistry of Commerce and Industry at major stores such as Lulu Hypermarkets, Al Meera, Family Food Center, and Carrefour.
These programs aim to improve the local marketing method for local vegetables, increase their demand, reduce waste, and increase the income of local farms.
