Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued Law No. 13 of 2019 on the establishment of the Media City.
Under the law, a city called the Media City shall be created, which shall have a moral personality and an independent budget. Its borders and coordinates shall be determined by a decision of the Council of Ministers.
The Media City aims at managing and developing media activity in the State of Qatar, and enhancing its position as a venue for attracting international media, technology companies, research and training institutions in the media and digital media, in addition to supporting and promoting digital and technological media projects, achieving economic and professional integration with various state projects, and providing an attractive interactive environment through companies licensed to work in the Media City. The law is effective on the day following its publication in the official gazette.
