The Annual Tourism Industry Ramadan Ghabga hosted by the Qatar National Tourism Council returned for its 6th edition that welcomed guests from QNTC’s partners in the public and private sector, staff and media representatives.
Addressing guests, His Excellency Akbar al Baker, QNTC Secretary General, highlighted the achievements of the tourism sector over the past period, noting a 10% increase in the number of visitors in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same period last year.
He also pointed out that the number of cruise ships and passengers arriving in Qatar during the 2018/19 season, which ended earlier this month, had increased significantly. With 44 cruise ships and 140,000 visitors arriving at Doha Port, this cruise season has witnessed a growth rate of over 100 percent compared to the previous season.
Al Baker also congratulated members of the Qatari hospitality sector on recent rankings which place the Qatari guest experience at the top of the Middle East for the second year in a row, according to the Olery Guest Experience in the Middle East Report.
The Annual Tourism Industry Ghabga is a platform provided by QNTC for members of the tourism sector to connect, exchange ideas and find new and innovative ways to develop the sector through partnerships.
