Centro Capital Doha by Rotana Hotels, the leading hotel management organization in the Middle East and Africa has participated at a beach cleanup activity on 6th of December, in partnership with Doha Environmental Actions Project (DEAP) to contribute and support environmentally friendly initiatives in Qatar.
DEAP is a dedicated volunteer-based group where they have been operating in Qatar for around 2 years. Every weekend, cleanups are organized where volunteers from various communities to eliminate wastage and pollution from natural settings such as beaches, sand dunes and mangroves. The activity took place one of Qatar’s most beautiful beaches Al Yousufiya Beach near Madinat Ash Shamal in northern Qatar where 100 volunteers had gathered to conduct beach cleaning activities. Centro Capital Rotana supported the cause by volunteering at the cleanup and collecting waste and contributing towards the sustainability of the area.
Commenting on the activity, Erik Guluta, General Manager of Centro Capital Doha said: “We are pleased to partner with DEAP Qatar to encourage sustainable and environmentally friendly initiatives in Qatar. As part of our ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts, we are committed to support initiatives that create a positive impact within our community.”
Jose Saucedo, Director of DEAP, added: “We are pleased to see an increase of participation from the private sector taking the initiative to reduce plastic pollution. With Centro Capital Doha’s participation, it led an example for conducting activities within the hospitality sector to reduce the use of plastic. We look forward to have our local community be involved as much as possible for the fight against plastic pollution.”
