Centro Capital Doha, a 4-star property under Rotana Hotel Management Corporation hosted a sushi-making masterclass for students from Qatar University’s Japanese Club.
As part of Centro Capital Doha’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, a masterclass was hosted to cover the process behind crafting the traditional Japanese fusion sushi, where 15 students took part in learning how to prepare different types of sushi. It was arranged with a dynamic setup, that was led by the Executive Head Chef from c.taste restaurant at the hotel, Chef Toufik Imam Shaikh. With over 14 years of experience in the hospitality, Chef Toufik brings his expertise to showcase the art behind sushi-making to the Qatar University Japanese Club members.
Toufik Imam Shaikh, Executive Head Chef at Centro Capital Doha, said: “We are pleased to host the Japanese Club from Qatar University, as it aligns with the enthusiastic students’ passion and interest of the Japanese culture. We hope that in the future, we introduce what each culture has to offer through their unique culinary traditions for everyone to experience. Sara Yousif Shafi, Vice President of the Qatar University’s Japanese Club, added: “It was an absolute honor to be part of the sushi making masterclass organized by Centro Capital. It reflects upon our passion for the Japanese culture, and it was a great interactive session for the members of the club to experience.”
Qatar University’s Japanese Club was established since 2007 and currently has almost 400 members. The main purpose behind the formation of this club is to gather those who are interested in Japan and its rich culture. The club also encourages the learning of the Japanese language and the cultural exchange between Japan and Qatar, which aligns with the Qatar 2030 vision.
Centro Capital Doha conducts a variation of activities to be prevalently involved in the community in Qatar. Through such initiatives, it reflects upon the hotel’s core corporate social responsibility values.
