Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition Started Today

The 17th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), the event’s biggest edition yet, is all set for a glittering opening ceremony today with famous Bollywood actress and influencer Sonam Kapoor as the celebrity guest.

Kapoor, who stars in this year’s DJWE TV commercial, will attend the launch of the six-day event at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).

DJWE 2020 is expected to see an increase in the number of visitors as Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) had launched a global campaign covering key social media, digital and TV channels reaching more than 460 million people.

Organized under the patronage of HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the event has witnessed a staggering 65 per cent increase from its previous edition.

A total of 129 exhibitors from 14 countries are taking part this year compared to 77 exhibitors from 10 countries last year.

This year’s participants comprise 74 international and 53 local exhibitors showcasing around 500 brands of jewellery and watches from 25 countries, spread on a 33,000sqm space.

Eighteen local designers are showcasing 16 jewellery brands under the Young Qatari Designers initiative.

The expo also features a Turkish Pavilion that features 11 Turkish brands and Indian Pavilion with 28 brands.

A number of events and workshops will be organized on the sidelines of the event including a showcase of independent watch brands by Qatar Watch Club, watch polishing workshops by Objectif Horlogerie, diamond grading laboratory and educational class in diamond grading, free consultations with certified gemmologist and a 360 luxury photo experience “Journey into Wonder.”

The exhibition is supported by a number of partners, led by Qatar National Bank (QNB) as the official sponsor, Qatar Airways as airline partner, JW Marriott Marquis City Centre Doha as the official hospitality partner, Alfardan Automotive and Sotheby’s International Realty Qatar.

The exhibition will be open to visitors today from 3 pm to 10 pm, thereafter, it will be open daily from 12 pm to 10 pm, except on Friday, when it will be open from 4 pm to 10 pm.
