The event will see a performance by MAias Alyamani and his MAqam Ensemble, in partnership with Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS). It will be held on Saturday 27 April 2019, 3:30 p.m., at FBQ Museum. Regular museum entrance fees apply, and the revenue will be donated for charity.
Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani (FBQ) Museum is organizing a charity concert by the renowned MAqam Ensemble, member of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and led by MAias Alyamani. Held in partnership with Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), the event will be supported by the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA).
With a few weeks to go until the start of Ramadhan, this concert aims to articulate the spirit of supporting and sharing with those in need.
The stepping stone for this event is the exhibition “Syria Matters”, running at MIA until 30 April 2019, which includes an oud and a qanun from the FBQ Museum’s collection. Exploring five periods of Syria’s history, illuminating its key role in the artistic and intellectual history of the world, the exhibition highlights the extraordinary cultural heritage of this country, and at the same time pleads to safeguard this unique legacy in danger.
FBQ Museum appreciates the partnership with QRCS in this event. All the revenue will be donated to QRCS’s relief projects in Syria and Yemen.
Established in 1978, QRCS is a leading humanitarian and volunteering organization that aims at assisting and empowering vulnerable individuals and communities without partiality or discrimination, under the strategic slogan of ‘Saving Lives and Preserving Dignity’. With its legal capacity as a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, QRCS is a globally recognized humanitarian provider with access to disaster and conflict zones.
FBQ Museum is a heritage venue that exposes a large and diversified array of exclusive artefacts from the Jurassic period to the early Islamic period, and further up to the present day, across a wide range of themes. The Museum is located at the centre of Qatar, in the Al-Samriya Estate, which features a theatre and a space for contemporary art. It is open for the public every day of the week.
It is our pleasure to welcome you on Saturday 27 April 2019, 3:30 p.m., at the FBQ Museum.
The concert will be preceded by a project presentation by QRCS and the screening of Syrian short film Mare Nostrum.
