The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced that it will partially open Fereej Al Ali Intersection on D Ring Road, on Friday, June 18th, 2021.
Fereej Al Ali Intersection, known as Al Tadamon Intersection, connects traffic between the D Ring Road and Rawdat Al Khail Street.
This has been part of the development and expansion of the D Ring Road to increase traffic capacity and reduce traffic congestion.
In order to increase traffic flows on all three main intersections of the D-Ring Road, D-Ring Road upgrades are designed to provide a more regular flow through Fereej Al Ali intersection, Nuaija intersection and free flow traffic on the Lulu intersection.
The upgrading project involves building a 3.5-km rainwater drainage tunnel for improving drainage network efficiency in the area. The construction will also include the construction on both sides of the 4.5-km D-Ring Road, of joint pedestrian and cycling paths.
The Qatari heritage of the area surrounding the project, known as Rawdat Al Khail, was considered during the design phase, elements inspired from the Qatari environment will be featured on murals inside the tunnel that will be built as part of the project.
