Money Exchanges Temporarily Shut To Beat Coronavirus

The Government Communications Office (GCO) of Qatar announced the temporary closure of in-person money exchange and transfers starting 26th March 2020.

This decision was taken as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus in Qatar. The Government of the State Of Qatar is taking action against closing all non-essential shops and public spaces to combat the virus.

“The most important thing that the people of Qatar can do to contain the spread of the virus is to reduce day-to-day contact with other people.” the GCO published on their website.

During the temporary closure, money can be transferred through online exchange services, mobile applications and Ooredoo Money. All services allow users to transfer money abroad instantly.

“Full guidance on how to access and use these alternative services will be made available in multiple languages across multiple sites and channels in Qatar.” the GCO assured in a statement.
