The postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics will start on 23rd July 2021 to 8th August 2021. Organisers announced this decision after the coronavirus forced to postpone the historic games until 2021. “The Paralympics will be held from 24th August 2021 to 5th September 2021.” Tokyo 2020 Olympics Chief Yoshiro Mori announced to the press on 30th March 2020.
In a statement, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said the new dates would give health authorities and organisers “the maximum time to deal with the constantly changing landscape and the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision would also cause minimum disruption to the international sports calendar.”
