The Qatar Meteorology Department has said that rainfall is expected to be around average levels from October until December in both Qatar and the entire Gulf region.
During this period, the minimum and maximum temperatures in Qatar will see a downward trend, with the maximum expected to be below 35C and a minimum below 20C.
While the day temperatures will be mild, things will become relatively cold at night.
People should be careful as flu and other diseases are common during this transitional period.

Public Works Authority – Ashghal
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) held an informative workshop titled ‘Rainy Season 2019-2020’, headed by its President, Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi, and attended by a number of officials and senior engineers from Ashghal, as well as a large number of drainage frameworks contractors.
Major projects are progressing to complete permanent systems for the discharge of surface water, such as Mesaimeer Outfall Tunnel Project that aims to discharge surface water and rainwater, in addition to permanent drainage networks in various areas.
This is in addition to 20 completed temporary solutions that help reduce the accumulation of rainwater in most vulnerable areas in Doha to enhance operational readiness. These include the installation of overland pipes with pumps to clear water from the streets and pump it into lagoons away from residential areas.
The recently completed solutions include Education City, Umm Ebairiya, Al Wakrah, Al Wukair, Arabian Gulf Street and University Street. These areas were heavily impacted by rainwater accumulation last year.
Rainfall Emergency Committee
The joint rainfall emergency committee under the chairmanship of Safar Mubarak Al Shafi, Assistant Undersecretary for General Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and membership of the concerned authorities also discussed the possibilities of each participant, a plan for cooperation, coordination and speedy response to requests from the public and communications received by the operating room.
The committee will set up a mechanism for rain emergencies, prepare strategic plans to cope with it, coordinate and cooperate with the relevant authorities in this regard, and ensure the readiness of municipalities and competent departments and their readiness to deal with rain emergencies. Also, take up the necessary means to ensure the withdrawal of water pools as fast as possible.
