Qatar Cabinet Removes Working Hours Limit For Private Sector Starting 2nd July 2020

The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani chaired the regular meeting held by the Council on 1st July 2020, through video conferencing. 

Following the meeting, HE Dr. Issa bin Saad Jaffali Al Naimi, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, including the following: 

The cabinet affirmed the continuation of the work taken with precautionary measures and measures taken to combat this pandemic and within the framework of the plan to gradually lift the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus, the Council decided to cancel its decision regarding limiting working hours for workers in the private sector at their workplace, as of 2nd July 2020. 

After that, the Council considered the issues on the agenda as follows: 

First – Taking the necessary measures to issue a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. 12 of 1998 organizing The Central Municipal Council, after the cabinet reviewed the recommendation of the Shura Council regarding it. 

Second – Taking the necessary measures to ratify: 
(A) – An agreement to support the junior professional programme of the United Nations Development Program between the State of Qatar represented by the Government of the State of Qatar and the United Nations Development Program. 

(B) – Memorandum of Understanding between the State of Qatar and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations. 

Third – Approval: 
(A) – A draft agreement on opening an office for the International Institute for Green Growth in the State of Qatar between the government of the State of Qatar and the International Institute for Green Growth. 

(B)- A draft memorandum of understanding for joint cooperation in the fields of health between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of El Salvador. 

(C) – A draft protocol attached to the agreement between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the People’s Republic of China in the matter of avoiding double taxation and preventing financial evasion in relation to income taxes.

Fourth – The Council of Ministers reviewed the results of the 73rd session of the World Health Assembly and the 147th session of the executive board of the association, and took the appropriate decision regarding them.
