Qatar Foundation has now launched the Education City Tram! It is known to be a pioneering transport system as a new form of sustainable travel in Qatar. This way it elevates the nation’s profile as the nerve center of innovation.
The Education City Trams has now made Qatar Foundation a more environmentally friendly, accessible environment, and it is another travel option that aims to reduce the number of vehicles in use as well as emissions within and around QF. Not only is it helping the environment in being sustainable, but it is also a good way to socially interact with others around the community.
There are 24 station in total which enables car-less, park-and-ride connections all around QF’s schools, universities, center, and facilities. Tram also has many facilities that are incredible. It has an onboard energy storing system that can remove the need for overhead power cables, it can also travel from one stop to another without needing to be charged. With the tram having 64 air-conditioned seats, it also provides dedicated seats for people with disabilities.
This Tram has shown growth in Qatar being able to stay sustainable and harness technology with such innovations. As the Chief Operations Officer, Qatar Foundation, Ghanim Hassan Al-Ibrahim, said: “The launch of the Education City Tram marks a true milestone not only in the continuing evolution of Qatar Foundation’s built environment but in the advancement of sustainable transport in Qatar.”
Both the Doha Metro, and the Tram will be able to play a huge role during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as it will be able to transport thousands of those football fans to the matches at the Education City Stadium.
