The Doha Film Institute (DFI) is inviting filmmakers from Qatar and around the world to send films for the ninth edition of the Ajyal Film Festival, which will take place from November 7th to November 19th.
Entries to the Ajyal Film Competition must be submitted and film copies must be sent on or before August 11, 2021 and entries to the Made in Qatar section must be submitted and film copies must be sent on or before August 23, 2021 by completing the entry form and adding a link with password for the film.
DFI announced in a tweet: “Film submissions are now open for #ajyal21 (November 7-19)! Visit our website and submit your documentary/narrative short/feature films so they can be enjoyed and discussed by our enthusiastic, film-loving audience!”
Following safety guidelines, the festival will be held in a hybrid format this year as well, with a mix of in-person and online activations.
Ajyal Film Festival 2021, one of the region’s most anticipated film festivals, will return to showcase compelling films from around the world, celebrating artistic interaction and fostering cultural understanding through cinema. DFI’s signature event is an immersive celebration of culture and the pervasive influence of film for audiences of all ages, with a special focus on young talent.
Last year’s festival screened 80 films from 46 countries in a creative mix of virtual and in-person film screenings, interactive discussions, and DFI’s first-ever drive-in cinema in Lusail as part of a programme of unique experiences for all ages.
