As we are already in November, you may have come across the concept of Movember or No Shave November. These concepts are global campaigns that occur annually to focus on men’s health, particularly towards cancer. However, both concepts have been established by different individuals.
Movember was started as The Movember Foundation in 2003 by Travis Garone and Luke Slattery in Melbourne, Australia. The foundation focuses on raising awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health by growing out facial hair during the month of November. They have also funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world.
No Shave November was also founded to raise awareness on cancer. It was established by the 8 siblings of the Hill family, where they dedicated the cause to the passing of their father from colon cancer. The foundation encourages participants of the global campaign to ditch their razors or costs of grooming and donate to cancer charities that raise money for patients, education and research.
Not only it is encouraged to donate towards to cancer charities, it is always important to take action with prevention as it can save lives. Raising awareness can promote the initiative to do so.
Are you participating and supporting Movember and No Shave November this year? Let us know in the comments.
