This year for Qatar had been quite something. Qatar’s witnessed a lot of progress this year infrastructurally and economically.
As a booming hub of culture, we’ve always made sure that all the people in Qatar from diverse cultures come together as one in representing the country. 2018 most definitely was a very successful year in terms of bringing people together.
Here is a throwback to some of the most important highlights of 2018 !!
Qatar Rail – In relation with the Qatar National Vision 2030 providing a better quality of life and more opportunities to their citizens, Qatar Rail progressed immensely this year. The three main projects that are in progress are the Doha Metro, The Lusail Tramp and The Long Distance Rail are set to be completed by 2030. With each passing day, they are speeding up the work. This year they conducted a workshop on their security and emergency system. Also, the very first trial test for the trains held earlier in June which was a success and was attend by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, HE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al – Thani. He inspected the Lusail tramp network and the Doha metro. Later on this year they declared the diversion of the Al Edd Al Sharqi & Al Edd Al Jibli Streets after the completion of the DECC station.
This Is Qatar’s Ramadan Campaign – TIQ organized a Ramadan Campaign this year which was extremely organized and very well put together. It made sure that it brought in a lot of comfort and joy out there to the people involved. It targeted people from all communities all over Qatar. The campaign was initiated along with the sponsors Qinwan Dates and Fraser Suites West Bay. We managed to make this promotional campaign a huge success. It immensely also touched all our hearts to see the love and support that we got from your side. So it most definitely put us in a Win-Win Situation !! It was a one of a kind experience to put a smile onto everyone’s faces who got involved.
Grand Celebrations on Eid all over Qatar – Qatar this year had probably one of the grandest Eid Celebrations. Alongside all festivities going on in Qatar, Summer Entertainment City was set up at the DECC. It brought in so many people each day and they enjoyed all the rides and the food stalls that the Summer Entertainment City had to offer. They put to display a very unique section which showcased virtual reality systems. Vesaro Driving Stimulators and Oculus Rift Rooms were set up by GoV. Kids and all other ages enjoyed these virtual reality rides and the entire set up was a huge success.
Katara had a line up of a variety of events like the Police musical band and the fireworks and other live performances which really set in the mood for Eid.
Eid Al Adha this year brought in the Doha Comedy Festival. It took place on the 7th of August 2018 at QNCC. It showcased Hamad Al Amari, Gabriel Iglesias, and Alfred Robles. They put up a commendable performance and made sure that the crowd had a good laugh.
Food Festivals – I think we’ve all seen the food festivals comes and go to Doha. But this year Doha brought in the best of food and beverage festivals all year round. The Qatar International Food Festival was held at the hotel park earlier this year in March. The event held at the Hotel park allowed the families to come in with their kids and relax alongside trying the best cuisines from the best restaurants in Doha. The food festival also put up a cooking class schedule for 3 days and they also had their exclusive cooking theater.
Light Me Up Lusail – The International light festival.
The light festival took place at the Lusail Marina from the 6th to the 8th of December. The lights were magical and musical and left everybody awestruck. The water fountains were beyond enchanting. It attracted a huge crowd and the amazing display of the lights in the sky overviewing Lusail city was truly a beautiful sight to catch.
