World’s Most Competitive Economy Ranks Qatar Towards The Top

Qatar has accomplished a strong performance in the World’s Most Competitive Economy throughout various fields, with a ranking of 10 out of 53 high-income countries according to the publication of World Competitiveness Yearbook 2019 by Switzerland-based International Institute for Management Development (IMD).

The data is analyzed and based on several local and international sources, alongside opinions that were collected from surveys from over 200 local business leaders, where they shared their perspective about Qatar’s economy.

Qatar has reached a high ranking in the following categories:
– Economic Performance (3)
– Government Efficiency (5)
– Business efficiency (10)

Additionally, Qatar also ranks at 40 for infrastructure.

The rankings were influenced by numerous factors that consisted of the strong economic performance, high percentages of gross fixed capital, saving to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), trade balance to GDP, high levels of productivity, high overall GDP per capita and low consumer price inflations.

H E Dr Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabit, Chairman of the Planning and Statistics Authority, asserts that the results are a milestone for Qatar and enhances its position on an international level for various fields and sectors. Qatar will continue to strengthen and improve in other areas.
Moreover, the results align with Qatar’s National Development Strategy (2018-2022) where objectives are set in the aspects of economic infrastructure and private sector development, that will further enhance the economic and social growth.
